Who and Why

Because Nottingwood is all about donations and trust, it seems appropriate to tell something about the funder. If you know me, trust me or aren't interested, you're free to skip this part.

Who is Robin of Nottingwood?

Robin is born on the second of November 1958, married since 1984, father of one grown up, twenty-three year old,  daughter and partner in a law firm since 1991. He is Dutch and born in Rotterdam where he still lives.

Robin has a wide interest, both in his personal life as well in his business. He has fulfilled the role as president in several  business clubs, is corporate governor, has been involved in mentoring entrepreneurs in need and plays a role in the organization of (beach)volleyball.

He has studied at college and the University. In his role of lawyer, he has participated in a television program. Shortly after his study, he has studied Spanish and recently English at Cambridge (IGCSE). In 2010 he has obtained a certificate as corporate governor.

Personally he likes movies and music, he plays sport as much as he can (mostly (beach)volleyball), likes to travel and isn’t afraid of a challenge now and then.

What does Robin want?

There is a fast growing number of extremely rich people in the world of which there has to be enough that care for the faith of those in the world who stand no chance of all. Those will be glad that there is an organization that can help them to allocate their funds on a reliable, controllable and righteous way.

On the other hand, there is a large number of entrepreneurs in the world that, if given the opportunity, could benefit their local community and fight poverty with just a fraction of the possible resources.

The idea has come up to mind by a story in a movie. A local grocer in India rides to town with his truck, gets into a ditch and breaks the shaft of his truck. He has no means to get his truck repaired and no financial support at all. Because he has lost his truck, his village is without groceries and his family without income. His eldest daughter has to go and work in a hotel in the city. You can guess the sad outcome of her story. With just a small loan, mischief for a lot of people could have been prevented.

Why should Robin succeed?

Many people could vouch for his good intentions. He has been married for over 30 years and has been partner with the same both lawyers during the last almost 25 years, so it’s safe to say that he should be reliable. He is not rich, so he has little to lose. But he’s not poor as well, so he has nothing to win at expense of others.

He has proven to be a good organizer in many different aspects of his social and professional life. He is no world leader but in that aspect also not involved or corrupted in any way.

He sees no reason why his plan wouldn’t work.

Why now?

Both his partners in the law firm will become 65 years old in 2015 so Robin has to make a choice what he should do with his life.

He  fought poverty and injustice by means of the law long enough and he is getting a bit tired of arguing and fighting. He wants to make use of his energy in a positive way by trying to make the world a somewhat better place.

The time is here. The present ways of international fundraising are ineffective or even false and the system of finance is failing:

Furthermore, the internet makes it possible to make every dollar accountable for and projects controllable in every detail. All you need is a sufficient system of administration and recording.
